On May 8, Friday, Governor Ige’s Proclamation of May, 2020 as ALS Awareness Month was received via email. The hard copy was not available although it had been requested. May 8 would have been the day when the ALS Community in Hawaii attends a solemn celebration at the Ceremony Room at the State Capitol to receive the Proclamation, a tradition that was started 7 years ago.
Mayor Kirk Caldwell’s Proclamation for May, 2020 as ALS Awareness and Families Appreciation Month was brought to the Honolulu Hale front steps by Dana Kubota to a waiting Divina Robillard. Both were observing proper social distancing and wearing face masks. Dana is a staffer in the Office of the Managing Director, Roy Amemiya.
Much mahalo to the Governor’s and Mayor’s Staff members for their personal attention to our requests.
